Hey! I'm Merijn, an ambitious student of computational social science. Here I help companies with digital and data-driven solutions for various societal problems, constantly exploring new challenges and growth opportunities. This passion for new challenges is also visible in the rest of my life, in which I like to help people. I also love making videos and podcasts, and I like to learn new things by watching YouTube videos about interesting topics. I also like to read (yes, in a real book). The books I read are a variation of non-fiction (Digital minimalism, Atomic Habits) and fiction (Ready Player One, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow). In my spare time I also run.
With a talent for creative problem solving and project management, and fluent in both Dutch and English, interactions with stakeholders and clients are no problem. My studies have also equipped me with strong teamwork and report writing skills.
My proficiency in various technical fields, including Adobe Design programs, Python, HTML, CSS, LaTeX, Microsoft Office and SQL, enhances my ability to contribute to digital projects, simplify processes and present complex information in an accessible way.
My passion for multimedia also extends to my personal experience in creating videos, newsletters and podcasts, using creative communication skills to deliver messages in a variety of ways. Additionally, my Cambridge and NIMA certifications have demonstrated that I have a strong foundation in professional communications and marketing.
I am motivated to develop and use my skills to have a positive impact on my work and the world around us. If you keep learning and developing you can take on the world, sometimes with the help of a team.
The slogan 'Be purple where others are blue' stands for being able to be different from the rest. And you know what's funny? In web design, unvisited links are usually blue, but when you click on them, they turn purple. To me, this means that you should always make new discoveries so that you always keep learning.
For me it is not just about how the website looks, but also about the adventure of learning. Each purple link represents a new adventure within a larger 'Rabbithole'. This idea is central to my newsletter 'Merijns Relatieve Tijdstekening'. The slogan remains an invitation to all of you to join me on a journey of discovery and to enjoy the adventure of always learning.
